CITY WORKERS PUT UP A FLOWER-DECKED TRIBUTE TO THE WRECKED ECONOMY
It's a touching tribute from all sectors of society following a tragic death - friends, family and strangers laying flowers for the dearly departed.
However, in this case it's not a death which has prompted the floral offerings, but the crash and burn of Britain's economy.
No one has claimed responsibility for the curious memorial which stands outside the Bank of England in Threadneedle Street, Central London, but it has attracted the looks of numerous bemused City workers.
One of the citations reads 'In loving memory of the boom economy', another with a picture of a home says 'No longer with us', a further one clamped in the embrace of a teddy bear adds 'Rest in poverty'.
And despite heavy job losses and an uncertain mood in the Square Mile, Londoners could still spare a few quid to deck out the shrine.

Only the wonderful British could think of that!
