Does the continual miaowing of your cat annoy you?
Perhaps you wish you could permanently silence it.
Well, one pet owner has spent £10,000 ($20,000) to have her cat's miaow RESTORED after it suffered a rare throat condition and lost its voice.
Jean Kelly first noticed something was wrong with her beloved Cadbury when he suddenly stopped miaowing.
During a visit to the vet Cadbury was diagnosed with a paralysed larynx, which was blocking its throat.
Cadbury required two operations to fix the condition – at a cost of £5,000.
After a stint in intensive care, six days in an oxygen tent, four months nursing care and regular check-ups, the 13-year-old Moggy had run up a bill of £10,000.
Ms Kelly’s insurance company Petplan paid £6,000 of the costs, but she has been left to fork out the remaining £4,000.
She has even put a planned holiday to Namibia on hold to pay for Cadbury’s treatment.
Despite the cost, she says the procedure and ongoing nursing treatment were worth it.
Cadbury is back at home and on the road to recovery in Olney, Buckinghamshire - sitting in his favourite spot in the conservatory and miaowing in delight.
“It was never about me – it was about Cadbury and his quality of life. I know he’s not a young cat but I wanted to give him a fighting chance,” she told a Sunday newspaper.
